To get to where you want to go requires a vision and a plan. Strategic plans are often the difference between organizations putting out fires and those moving toward future impact and results. Get clear on where you’re going and how to get there together.

Vision, mission, and core values are foundational to strategic planning. They work like this:

  • Vision > North Star

  • Mission > Purpose

  • Core Values > Compass

  • Strategic Plan > Map

strategic planning process

  • Assess your organization's current state and gather input from stakeholders. This includes engagement with staff and board as well as a review of your current plan (if you have one) and other relevant documents.

  • Complete a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) to get a clear pulse check on where you are and where you want to grow.

  • Refine and realign your vision and mission. Determine your theme for the strategic plan and align on success metrics to measure results.

  • Define 3-5 core areas or "buckets" to focus your theme. These form the backbone of the plan - they are what keep you on track.

  • Build a strategy plan with Objectives and key Results (OKRs). Use the SMART framework to create crystal clear, bold goals.

  • This includes a draft, feedback and engagement process and finalization.
