2019 goals

I often tell my clients that if you want to achieve your goals, share them openly. This is partly why each year I share my goals right here at the start of the new year.

If you’re new to goal setting, head over to my how-to guide for creating powerful goals.

PS — I am turning 40 this year!

My goals for 2019

I HIKE THREE CLASSIC BC TRAILSBY SEPT 30 2019

It’s time to hit some bucket trails off my list. I have three classics lined up (keeping the locations on the DL). This means spending over 40 days in a tent this summer, completely offline travelling over 300km on foot.

  • ✅ nailed it! Highlights: an orca rubbing on a beach by my feet; 3 wolf encounters, 2 bear cubs, many sunsets, hiking in 70+ km winds, ocean swims!

I DO WORK THAT IS 100% MEANINGFUL TO ME WITH PEOPLE I 100% LOVE, STARTING NOW

I had this goal for 2018 and it was so powerful that I am keeping it again for 2019. Having this goal helps me stay focused, true to myself and the impact I want to have in the world. It means pausing and checking in with every opportunity that comes my way to see if it’s a HECK YES for me. I am in integrity with my choices. And you can be sure that my YES means something.

  • ✅ once again, nailed this too! I had so much fun working with Semperviva, Nurse Next Door, Steph Corker and The Corker Collective, Proof, Somerville Academy, Cando and FCM, Tracy Hutton, MEC, SFU, Forum of Women Entrepreneurs, hosting two sold out retreats, and so many amazing coaching clients.

I LAUNCH “TAKE OFF” BY APRIL 15 2019

My gal Kristin Constable and I are having a baby this year: TAKE OFF — an online course for leaders + entrepreneurs focused on self-optimization to increase your impact. This has been in the oven for a while and we are super excited to birth this to the world. Join my newsletter below for first access.

  • ✅ I had lots of fun with Kristin bring Take Off to the world. We are in the works of tweaking it to relaunch polished and clean for 2020.

I SURF EVERY MONTH OF 2019 STARTING JANUARY

This goal wraps several things I care about into one. It’s about getting strong through something that brings me equal parts challenge and joy. It means prioritizing time with my life partner Kam because surfing is something we do together. It means taking time each month to reflect and be in the ocean - my favourite place to heal, ground and refocus.

  • half ✅. I surfed 8/12 months. I fell in love with running and cycling again and this took time away from surfing. No regrets — I look forward to getting in the water in 2020.

I HELP WHITE PEOPLE BE A STAND FOR ANTI-RACISM BY OCTOBER 20 2019

In 2018 I was called out and invited in to do my work on white supremacy and systemic racism; my role in supporting racism through conscious and unconscious actions, and my role in dismantling it. If I stand for people being their whole selves I must stand for creating equity for all, not just white people like me. I have so much more to learn, I am not an expert and I will make mistakes, AND I am two feet in.

  • Work in progress. I have done lots of education on how to be a better white human and have taken an open stand on several issues that support social justice. I have been shopping at BIPOC owned and led businesses more and challenging speaking panels to have more people of colour on their roster. And the work here isn’t done. It’s only just begun.

I OPEN THE DOORS TO THE FIRST PEACE CABIN BY OCTOBER 1 2019

Last year my husband and I began our 10-year vision to have a retreat centre on the ocean where people can find, create, and take action for peace. We bought land on Ucluelet Territory in March 2018. This year the goal is to complete the site prep (think septic, driveway, hydro, water - the basics!) and build the first cabin. This place, it’s called peace and you can follow our journey on Instagram.

  • In progress. We started the foundations and things are taking longer. This is now a goal for 2020.

What are you committing to this year?
